The slave trade was the most profitable business in past British history. The trade assisted the very foundations of the British Empire, and there has been little or no effort to deliver a fitting Memorial. The images opposite reflect this sad ignorance and lack of empathy. In recognition of the past inhumanity of the transatlantic slave trade inflicted upon millions of African men, women and children, our mission is committed to delivering a memorial destination place that is not only fitting for British cultural history, but also to change the perception of static monuments which serve only as a place to lay flowers.
