The Halo Memorial: A Suggestion

The proposed centre piece Memorial would re-instate St James’ historic past. The Halo would consist of an elevated ‘Walkway of Knowledge’ encircling the Church. A ceiling of 1.5 million solar lights, representing the souls carried on Liverpool slave ships, would light a 150 metre journey, creating a visual experience to inspire all who witness. Interactive screens, utilizing state of the art technology, will educate, to create a greater understanding and empathy of the horrors of the slave trade. Importantly the Memorial walkway would lead visitors into an Anti-Slavery Centre, which would present an exhibition centre about the blight of modern slavery.
